I just had an interesting thought about our game winning
fg kick last weekend. Isn’t the rule in college football that if the offense substitutes, then the refs stand over the ball to allow the defense to sub?

So wouldn’t bringing our special teams onto the field be considered a substitution? If that’s the case, why wouldn’t Utah just do their dumb time waste substitution, which would have brought the play clock down to 0 and there would’ve been a 10 second run off?

There is specifically a rule in the rulebook that prevents this. (Zoobieman, Nov 15, 2024 at 11:24am)
