Does my soul good to see Mark Pope doing well. He is a KU alum, so I never
felt like he owed us loyalty over them. I was disappointed to see him leave, but happy for him to land the job he always wanted.

Then, we get the best coach we possibly could have gotten, even with Pope on the list, unprecedented support from a massive donor who was extremely motivated to make BYU a major destination program when all we've ever been is a solid, plucky, successful program with the occasional tourney W. Then we land several high profile recruits at the same time who each individually would be in the top 5 of all time recruits for our program.

I felt bad for Pope, b/c he didn't have similar support here, and didn't have similar success in his first recruiting class at KU. We somehow massively upgraded after losing a really good coach, and I worried that it would look like we shed dead weight to KU. So, it makes me happy to see him with a big win over Duke right out of the gate. Good for him.
