much as us blue-goggled BYU fans think it's all the Utes' fault, they feel the same way about us.
Leading up to and after the game I spent a lot of time on their message boards. They think we make up so much stuff, like the noise being piped in, or crappy fan behavior, etc. They think we are self righteous and arrogant. And no surprise, they think the hold was a bogus call at that point in the game and that they got screwed. Sure, there are a few of them who think it was the right call, but the overwhelming majority don't.
And I don't need to spell out all the things we think about them. The bottom line is, even if Kalani and eventually Scalley ask for civility from fans, I don't think it will change much. It has become like politics, you are either a D or an R, and for the most part, you think the other side is crazy.
And before any of you say that it was much better before Urban, Ute fans certainly don't believe that. I think it was mostly better from our perspective, because we did a lot more winning back then. But most Ute fans say that we treated them like crap and talked trash to them while we owned them for a few decades. They hated the 70's and 80's and I have seen countless stories on their message boards about how arrogant BYU was back then.
My point is, this rivalry will always be nasty and there will always be finger pointing from both sides. I had naively assumed that after Whitt leaves it might improve, but I don't think it ever will.
