Should the CFP reflect the best resumes (best wins, toughest schedules, etc) or the best teams (who would be favored in a head-to-head match-up)?

I believe that the polls should be a combination of both. BYU has a good resume at this point with 5 road wins, two wins over ranked foes, and an undefeated record. But I wouldn't have them favored to beat Tennessee or Georgia or Alabama or LSU.

It seems right now that BYU's greatest strength is a stubborn refusal to lose.
