The economy of Hawaii is kinda nuts
According to the Hawaii Agricultural Statistics Service, 2023 agricultural sales were US$370.9 million from diversified agriculture. 20 billion came from tourism. In 2023, the United States military spent US$123.2 billion in Hawaii. Social security and other benefits 40 billion. State schools police lifeguards etc 18 billion.

So basically we have 20.4 billion of taxable income, but 181 billion coming in from taxes.

Is there any other state so upside down on this?
