Pulled off the most epic prank in Sacrament Meeting
this Sunday to top my celebration of the Saturday night Holy War victory.
My dad is a newly called bishop, and as he was sitting on the stand yesterday I texted him, "The closing song needs to be changed to 251" as a joke. Sadly I never saw him smile or even look at me the rest of the meeting, so I assumed he didn't see the message.
You can imagine my surprise when the bishopric counselor who was conducting walked up to the pulpit and said, "There has been a change in the program. We will be singing Hymn #251 as the closing song."
My brother and I immediately started pumping our fists as the organist and chorister frantically scrambled to find the right song with appalled looks on their faces. My dad just looked confused. When the entire congregation started singing "Victory! Victory! Victory!" in the chorus, he finally got what was going on and completely lost it. As he fought to control himself from bursting out hysterically and couldn't even sing the song, let alone open his mouth as his face turned bright red. The Stake Presidency member and High Counselor on the stand were looking at him like he was crazy.
I'm not sure which was more unlikely, BYU coming back after Retzlaff was tackled twice in his own endzone, or my prank working and actually changing the closing song in Sacrament meeting. But both experiences will go down as some of the most glorious moments of my life. Go Cougs!!
