Ferrin missed his first kick of the year, a 36 yarder or something straight on against Southern Illinois. I cursed his name and knew we were destined to have an unreliable kicking game for the year.
Since then Ferrin is 17/19. There are very few kickers in the country where you could or should play it how byu did last night. College kickers don't pull that off, NFL kickers miss that kick. Clock is running no time outs and he kicks the ball with 4 seconds to go in the game.
BYU was insane for running two dive plays in a row to set up the field goal from so far out. I would've felt very confident if I were a Utah fan. But that is when Ferrin became legend.
That clutch factor alone, he was smiling and joking right before the kick and then calmly went out and drilled the game winner. Combined with his leg should definitely get him some looks in the NFL.
