The eye test needs to be done away with in evaluating sports teams
Honestly all you are saying is that like a team better. Why did you put Miami at 4 over BYU? Well we like them better. Because if there was an actual reason you would be able to articulate it in stats. Stats tell the story about what has happened.

Think about it. If you asked anyone about anything and they said because when I looked at them I thought they were better as an answer to something with known data points it is moronic.

Who is a better actress: Meryl Streep or Kate Hudson

While it is perfectly OK to like Kate Hudson better, there is data in the form of Oscars to suggest that Meryl Streep is much better.

Who was a better team last year, the 76ers or the Celtics?

I am sure there are some who espouse that if the 76ers remained healthy they could have beaten the Celtics. But reality is reality and the Celtics were the better team because they played better on the court. So for anyone that says the 76ers they are essentially saying that the real life data is wrong.

So when you ask a committee member why Miami is at 4 and BYU is at 9 and they say the eye test, essentially what they are saying is I don't trust what has actually happened. I think it is wrong because when I watched them play I liked them better than the other team.
