The KY era is going to be special. He has a VISION for this program.
I’ve closely followed KY’s career over the past 5 years or so, and consumed every interview he and his staff have given since his hire earlier this year. KY is coming to BYU with a radical new concept for a college MBB program. (Radical for college anyway.)

He’s building out the infrastructure for a wholistic program where every facet of a the program is integrated and data driven—where data analytics feed into game planning, which feeds into skill development planning, which feeds into strength training & conditioning planning, which feeds into nutrition planning, and so on.

He’s dedicating a lot of time this, and has staff currently developing software to help integrate and manage this whole system. Recruiting will be part of it as well.

It’s going to take some time to get the whole thing built out, synchronized and performing to the level KY envisions.

I’d expect him to rely heavily on his coaches to handle opponent scouting and develop game plans while he focuses on setting up the program.

Meanwhile, let’s allow some time for players to build chemistry, for internationals to adjust to the U.S. college game, for everyone to adjust to NBA schemes and terminology, and there’s going to be a learning curve for the coaches as well.

Bottom line: He’s laying the groundwork for sustained success. We’re going places. Let’s enjoy the ride.
