stated, Utah has not been as physical as they have been in the past. He spoke about Utah having "an edge" by being more physical than their opponent. Stopping the run and forcing them to be one dimensional. He stated they have not done well at that this year either. He also spoke about how good BYU has been "opportunistic" at taking the ball away.
You can bet, Utah is hammering this home all week. You can see it in Glovers statement. No matter what they say in their pressers however, trying to be politically correct etc. You can bet Utah is doing all it can to fire up its players to be more physical, protect the ball and try to cause turnovers.
Utah will (just like they have in the past) Will be treating this game like thier superbowl and playing as if their lives depended on it. They not only have that rivalry motivation from their coaches but also playing at home after losing 4 in a row and feeling like they must win at all costs to have any chance at a bowl game, they also understand how important this game is for in state recruting, perception they are better etc.
You can bet Utah is putting everything they have into this game. Expect them to look and play much much more physical than they have all year. Expect them to come out with many new wrinkles to their offensive game plan.
The #1 thing IMO BYU MUST do is match or beat Utah's physicality! #2 is protect the ball. Obviously the game plan on both O and D and ability to quickly make adjustments will be key.
ALSO MUST GET PRESSURE ON THEIR UNTESTED QB. MUST PROTECT RETZLAFF AND HAVE A GAMEPLAN ON O TO EFFECTIVELY COUNTER UTAHS D, BLITZ PKGS ETC.
I imagine Utah will look at what Oklahoma state did and try to get the ball out on the edges.
BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR!!
