he has raw athletic talent with great instincts on blocks, and is slender and athletic enough to develop an offensive game.
I've seen him play and his change just over one year is substantial. Two years ago, he didn't show the potential he shows now, so with the great coaches now at BYU, he should turn into a high draft pick whenever the coaches and he believe he is ready.
Also it can signal a trend in recruiting. Very few high school players are polished in ever aspect of their game. Staton is more polished in his defensive play than offensive play. Right now he's not explosive, but he is barely 17 IIRC. A slender 7 footer takes a bit of time to develop explosion. He does appear to have the ability to become smooth. At this time, he's not a 1 and done, so we should be happy to a good athlete here for a few years.
