They must have known that when they could no longer rely on overrated conference opponents and instead have to face stiffer competition and losing seasons, the program, players, fanbase, and national prestige would crumble quickly and definitively. They were literally fighting for their life and long-term viability as a program. Even so, they deserve all of it, and then some. Go Cougs!
