REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE NO AQ FOR THE P4 CC!!! ITS THE 4 HIGHEST RANKED CC THAT
GET THE BYE AND THE TOP 5 HIGHEST RANKED CC THAT GET INVITED INTO THE PLAYOFF.

The reason why I say this in all CAPS is the P4 CC aren't necessary guaranteed a playoff spot.

Drake on his podcast talked about the B12 getting in 2 teams if BYU can go undefeated and lose in the CC. 2 teams wouldn't be guaranteed neither would the solo B12 CC. Here's why.
If you look at the top 6 conference leaders you get the following teams. (Note this is the AP Poll, CFP Poll is released on Tuesday evening)
1. Oregon B10 -Ranking 1, Record 9-0
2. Georgia SEC -Ranking 2, Record 7-1
3. Miami ACC -Ranking 4, Record 9-0
4. BYU B12 -Ranking 9, Record 8-0
5. BSU MW -Ranking 12, Record 7-1
6. Army AAC -Ranking 18, Record 8-0

If BYU makes the CC game and loses to #22 KSU do they jump #12 BSU and #18 Army? BSU has the MW locked up, they just need to beat UNLV again. If Army goes undefeated and beats #10 ND do they finish the season higher than a 2 loss KSU B12 Champ? Maybe...Maybe not. BYU will have very few opportunities to move up much more in the polls. I would assume Army would be ranked pretty high if they did win out since there is still room for reshuffling in the middle of the rankings. Its also assumed that a victory over ND would move them up a handful of spots. They say the team that loses in the CC won't be penalized but I don't believe it. A team that losses in the CC that's ranked as #9 or #10 could lose out on a playoff spot. BYU needs to win out. Forget about trying to get 2 teams in. Its too risky to lose one especially since nobody respects the B12.

There is an advantage in being in a G5 conference when it comes to making the CFP. If you can go undefeated (much easier G5 schedule) you can be ranked as one of the top ranked CC. This is why it was smart of UNLV to stay in the MW. They no longer have big bad BSU there, they can be the new top dog. The G5 contenders each year will be the Pac, MW, and AAC each year. If the B12 has a down year or the ACC where everyone beats up on each other, you'll see 2 G5 CC sneak in and take a playoff spot.
