I flew from SLC to Orlando earlier this week with my fam. We hit the Disney parks and then today was game day.

First things first, I gotta say UCF fans were great! When we pulled into the parking lot by the stadium, the parking attendant welcomed us and then invited us to a Royal blue tent where they had hot dogs, chips, and water waiting for us. Super nice!!

The stadium itself was disappointing IMO…felt like a bunch of bleachers stacked up really high with a small press box. My wife said “this feels like a junior college.” That being said, give UCF a few years and I’m sure they’ll have more of a big-time feel soon enough. And this probably doesn’t need to be said, but man BYU’s in-game production team is good. Like…maybe the best in the country. I really noticed it today being at an away game.

At the end of the game, a UCF fan told me “thanks for coming.” I thought that was cool that he was gracious in defeat.

UCF security was lame and didn’t let the team circle the whole field to high-five the fans. I was really bummed about this because I was waiting right at the edge of the field with my kids, but on the UCF sideline. But I do need to mention that Mason Fakahua somehow snuck his way around the security guards to high five those of us waiting along that sideline. That was a cool gesture.

After the game I ran into Brian Santiago at Chik-Fil-A and said hi to him (he knows my Dad). He told me the coaching staff loved being labeled as underdogs this week and they were using that as fuel in their pre-game prep today.

I could go on and on, but overall I loved my experience. Cougar Nation is the best. See y’all next time.
