The original drawings called for an Aspen but the gc installed cottonwood. I wasn’t contracted with that gc so not much sway to fix it even if I caught it. I should have removed it when I moved in anyway, but it was providing excellent screening between me and my neighbor. The thing about Cottonwoods is that if you irrigate them, they have a real shallow root system. All of the cottonwoods on the other side of my property were blown over in storms. So we knew we were in trouble for this last one. The others thankfully fell away from structures, but this one most certainly would’ve done significant damage had it been blown over.
Now in lieu of evening runs, I’ll be digging out the 3’ diameter stump.
