Never got around to posting this, but I think ARod is great
Just to be transparent, I’m usually part of the CB mob. People were tired of Bronco, I was too. People were calling for Tuiaki’s head, I was too. Same thing with Funk last year. But the ARod hate has confused me.

Our offense this year has been pretty dang good, and sure, while our defense has overall gotten a lot more attention, it could be argued that our offense is just as good. Every single time our defense has disappointed this season, our offense has been right there to pick us up. And the point of this post is not to slam on the defense, it is special, but to question the Arod slander

We could talk about how the stats don’t reflect that this offense is special, but they don’t tell the whole story. The Kansas St game is a perfect example. The amount of times the offense gets a short field or doesn’t even come on the field at all throughout the season will have an impact on the statistics but our offense usually has been able to build on the momentum the defense creates OR be the one to create it. Kansas St throws a pic following a scoop a score and we have a less than a minute to go 29 yards? We score on the second play. Arizona throws a pic to start the half? We score on the ensuing play, putting the ball back in the rattled QBs hands literally seconds after a costly pic. As I mentioned, our defense is special, they’ve been able to completely change the momentum of games, but our offense is usually quick to build right on that momentum. And many times it’s allowed our pumped up defense to quickly get back on the field and create ANOTHER turnover.

The one time this entire season it didn’t feel like our offense delivered when needed was against Baylor in the second half, but let me remind you that that was only our game to lose because of the offense, scoring a TD on its first 4 possessions and putting up points on 6 of its first 7 drives. It’s also important to consider that for the majority of the season, LJ Martin has either been out or limited, and given how special he is that makes Arod’s job even harder. How many teams would struggle after losing arguably their best player on offense?

I feel confident in our offense enough that whenever our defense is struggling, our offense turns it into a shootout type of game. For example, Arizona drives a 90+ yard field for its first possession and score a TD, our offense responds, then Arizona drives the ball down the field as well, and yes, our defense comes up with a turnover, but at that point of the game it was 7-7, Arizona had proven they could move the ball at will, and we were pinned on our 1 yard line…. Our offense drives 99 yards and scores. Another example, the OSU game as a whole. Yes there were costly turnovers, I’d argue that only one was on Arod, but our offense was able to move at will for the most part, for the entire game. Anyways, the point of this rambling is just to say that I trust Arod, and I think we have some good times ahead as Jake Retzlaff continues to grow and we have a healthy LJ. That’s all I have to say. 7-0. beat UCF 🤙🏼
