Apparently, sprinkler repair/landscaping is a lucrative business. I just
replaced a sprinkler head a neighborhood 65 year-old single lady had run over with her lawnmower. It was toast. I went to Lowe's and got a replacement for $4. While digging up the funny pipe/fitting for the head, I noticed it appeared the lawn had been dug up in that area recently. She said, yes, a guy had come about a month ago to fix a leaking PVC pipe, replace a head and move another head. He charged her $450 for 45 minutes of work ($10 a minute). She wondered if she had been ripped off.

I replaced the head in about 15 minutes while showing her how to replace a sprinkler head if she needed to in the future. She wanted to know so she did not have to pay someone to do it. She saw how easy it was and figures she can do it. I buried the head a little deeper so it was not sticking above the lawn. She mows her lawn very short.
