Health/HSA spending question: I had a heart ablation procedure earlier this
year and we have a HDHP. So, we will be over the 7.5% of AGI in health care spending (that procedure was bonkers expensive). I have 2 questions to go along with this:

1. Is it really true that not only did I not pay taxes on the way into my HSA and I don't pay taxes on the way out of my HSA, but I also can claim the money spent from my HSA towards that 7.5% of AGI in healthcare spending?

2. Is there any reason not to spend down my HSA on my kid's orthodontia to finish up this year to maximize my tax deduction, since I will already be over the 7.5% of AGI? Our current orthodontist didn't have a "pay up front" discount, so I have been paying month-to-month so that I can put it into investments. But, paying it down now would be a 22% savings now that I am over the 7.5% AGI limit.

I have never been over 7.5% of my AGI in a single year on medical/dental/orthodontia to date, so I just want to make sure I am planning correctly to wrap up this year.
