I just want to note that there are innumerable ways to defend the read option.
20 years ago, it was always the D end's job to force the QB to hand off. But that is no longer the case with many sophisticated defenses. In many alignments, the D end always crashes and a safety or backer backfills.

We don't know which defenders have what responsibility without knowing the specific defensive call. So if you are convinced that such and such player messed up on a particular play, just know that you may be completely wrong.
