Then this season dumpster fire would have only added to his persona of "greatness" - i.e. "Whit retires and the wheels fall off."
Hopefully he finds this season miserable and doesn't want to break in his 50th OC next year, so he calls it quits.
This would be a dream scenario...once he retires, with how easy it is to transfer, recruits and existing players then bail, with our boys in blue probably picking up a fair share of the top guys (well, those who can meet admission and HC requirements).... Scalley comes in to an empty cupboard, suffers through a 2-3 sub-par seasons and suddenly the yewt faithful realize that neither the NFC West, nor the B1G are going to come calling. It's been sooooo long in the making.
