Disney in Tokyo is 1000x better than in the States. Yes, there are long lines,
but you don't get price gouged everywhere you turn. I can take my family (myself, wife, and four kids) for about $200 for the entire day. The food tends to be a lot cheaper as well. I've done the math, and counting travel expenses, food, hotels, etc. we can spend 12-13 days at Disney parks in Tokyo for about the same price as doing a two-day trip to Disneyland/World. And Disney Sea is the best amusement park I've ever visited--you won't find their rides anywhere else and the architecture/design is brilliant.

Yes, the lines can be just as long at the Tokyo parks, but you don't deal nearly as much with the lightning pass/fast pass/whatever-the-new-pass is insanity. And the Japanese people are so polite--no butting in lines, no trying to take advantage of the system, etc.

I was born in the shadow of Disneyland and have always enjoyed Disney, but I doubt I'll be visiting Disney parks in the States more than once every five years or so. Out here my family goes to Disney parks multiple times a year. When it's so much cheaper it's easier to enjoy the experience instead of dealing with that gnawing feeling that, at the end of the day, you're going to ask yourself "was this really worth it?"

In Japan it's always worth it, and I'm going to miss that.
