specifically for the college game. Pope has a great scheme that led to a lot of success despite talent deficiencies. It will be interesting to see if that still results in his new Kentucky team playing above their talent level even when he has superior talent.

We know that Kevin Young has been very successful with his schemes at the NBA level, but we don’t know yet how reliant his schemes are on elite, NBA level talent or how his schemes work within the college rules and the way college defenses play. We clearly have a talent upgrade (albeit inexperienced talent), but even KY has admitted some of the nuances of college ball are new to him. We’ve seen plenty of times where a successful coach moves between professional and college sports and it doesn’t work out.

Things seem to be setting up very nicely for KY so I am hopeful it will work out as spectacularly as we are expecting.
