I will keep requesting an audio feed that is just the stadium sounds without any commentary. In my opinion, it would become popular.

First off, most announcers care almost nothing for the game they are calling which is why they are continually badmouthing replay. I certainly don’t like the inconsistent execution of replay, but I like that mistakes can get corrected. Truthfully, most commentators are trying to make their flight home.

Secondly, there is no objectivity. If we have to listen to you to avoid silence, don’t pretend to understand a rule you don’t. A commentator should have to pass some minimal rules understanding test. No, They are not there to officiate, but they should know a lot more than a fan.

Lastly, There are very few commentators that add any value to the broadcast. To me, It’s like having a rando talk during the game and still have nothing to say. I won’t call out the ones I really dislike, but they tend to be the “c” team. It really just sends the message that ESPN simply doesn’t care about the game.


KSL does a good job. Greg gets a little testy when we are losing, but that is passion.
