BYUFootballisBack Intervention Needed
For those that need a refresher, the CFP committee actually does a pretty good
job and IMO has gotten it right pretty much every year. With the 12 team playoff the top 5 conference champions get auto-bids but the top 4 get the first round bye and the 5th can be seeded anywhere from 5-12.

Based on the 10 years of data the committees have provided I think they have shown to be fairly unbiased and overall pretty fair and accurate in their rankings.

an 11-1 P5 team has never been ranked worse than #7 in the country, regardless of what name brand that team had and would essentially be a lock for the playoff regardless of wether they lost their CCG or not.

in 10 seasons the SEC was the only conference to get 2 teams in the 4 man playoff, they did it 2 times. Each of those times it was a 1 loss Georgia team and a 1 loss Alabama team (whose only losses were against each other) and the other P5 conference champions had 2 or 3 losses, they NEVER got 2 teams in over a 1 loss P5 team from the ACC BIG Big12 or Pac12

"The committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
Strength of schedule,
Head-to-head competition,
Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

The committee will rank 25 teams. The five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams will be in the playoff."
