I did the math on the estimated money, and over the last 2 years, Utah NIL has paid Rising an estimated $357K per TD
over the last two years, if he doesn’t play again this year (Whitt says he’s now out and Wilson is starting “indefinitely”).
(“Seven figures” in 2023, so $1mil minimum, and $500K-$1.5mil for 2024… all for 7 total TDs)
For comparison, *including* his performance bonuses, Brock Purdy cost the 49ers $52,500 per TD.
($1.629mil / 31 TDs)
So if Rising is really done at Utah, the 49ers may have paid their superbowl QB about 1/7th as much per TD as Utah NIL boosters have paid the great Cam Rising.
We don’t know if those reported numbers are accurate, but for all the messianic fervor surrounding his return, I don’t doubt it:
