BYU's 6-0 start, KY and AJ hype, growing national rep for fanbase/CF atmosphere, BNK, etc. are coming at the right time.
The SEC and B1G commissioners are meeting to discuss the future of major college athletics. I figure they're deciding between four main options (although I'm sure there are other variations):

A. Leave the current situation unchanged (virtually 0% chance of happening).
B. Break away from the NCAA, include the Big 12/ACC as partners (with lower payouts) + ND, ditch the G6s, and form a new 68-team super league.
C. Break away from the NCAA, ditch the Big 12/ACC/G6s, and form a new 34-team super league (or 35 with ND).
D. Break away from the NCAA, pick and choose which current P4 teams are included and which aren't, and form a new ??-team super league.

A looks like a non-starter.

If B happens, BYU's just fine. (Thank you, Texas and Oklahoma and your greed.)

If C happens, BYU's obviously not fine. But I could see the Big 12/ACC threatening to file lawsuits against the SEC/B1G and also encouraging their combined tens of millions of fans to boycott super league games on TV, boycott super league merch, etc. I don't know if this response would really happen, but I think if the majority of Big 12/ACC fans followed through, it could put a big enough potential dent in the super league's TV contract and bottom line to make them think twice. Or maybe this is just naive thinking on my part and BYU would simply be left out again and hopefully forge a decent existence with the remaining teams.

If D happens, BYU's current success could build on past success and help sell our university/athletic department as one that belongs in the super league. Obviously, it would help immensely if the FB and BB teams can capitalize with appearances in the Big 12 title game/CFP and deep runs in the NCAA tourney — infinitely easier said than done — accompanied by strong TV ratings and huge game attendance by Cougar Nation.

But I believe BYU is trending in the right direction at the right time. Hope it continues and improves, and the two most powerful people in college athletics take notice!
