Let's assume it's Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Penn State, Auburn, Texas, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
What do you do if you're Florida, LSU, South Carolina, USC, Washington, Oklahoma, or one of the other major schools who have been around for years, have huge fanbases, but don't get this "immunity?" How can other schools put their stamp of approval on a protected class of school who is guaranteed to make a certain amount of money no matter what? You're essentially signing away you're competitive advantage permanently. Per the Project Rudy proposal, these schools will make 4 to 8 times as much money. There is no discussion that we know regarding enforcement or standardization of programs to promote parity. So essentially, what college football will really turn into, is an 8 team league with the occasional other program making bids at relevance. The sport will be devastated. You'll have all the top recruits wanting to go to these 8 schools (already a problem to some degree). All it takes to save the sport is to refuse immunity to those 8 schools.
