Some of you may recall that a few months ago, there was an unknown accident involving my Xbox Series X that caused the destruction of its HDMI port. I ended up attempting to repair the HDMI port myself, being a fairly adept diy'er with experience soldering circuit boards, though still fearing the repair work itself. Physically, the repair went well, and I couldn't see any collateral damage. The newly soldered HDMI port passed a continuity check, indicating that the pins had proper connection. Unfortunately, the repair did not restore the Xbox to functionality, indicating that when the port died, it likely cause other components on the mainboard to go with it. Not wanting to drop anymore money into a potentially futile repair effort, I'm just going to buy a new Xbox. I'm just hoping that there will be holiday discounts on the console. I don't know what we'll see though, with Microsoft releasing the slightly less expensive all-digital Series X, and the painfully expensive 2TB version later this month. I'm hoping I can land a decent deal. My kids just spent their own money buying CFB 25 shortly before the console died, and my Gamepass subscription is being somewhat wasted, even though I can use it on PC for some things.
