My wife was in a small car wreck yesterday. What do you think the best course
action is?

She was at a stoplight in a two lane intersection. There was a Long line of cars in both lanes going the same direction. Is traffic started to move. She noticed the person next to her was not paying attention and had not started moving. When she got about 2 to 3 lengths ahead of the person in the other lane, she decided to merge into that open empty spot created by the person who wasn’t paying attention.

As she began to pull into the other spot, the driver of the other car became startled when the person behind them honked so they hit the accelerator. The other driver was in a Tesla so by the time my wife was merging the other car came in so fast that she collided with my wife’s front passenger quarter panel.

My wife was in a big SUV so both not much damage was done (probably a 2k worth) but the Tesla was sideswiped down both driver side doors pretty good.

No one was hurt, thank goodness. The policeman that came did not assign any fault.

But here’s the thing: We both have progressive insurance and they have assigned one person to both claims. My big thing is In my opinion, our policy shouldn’t have to pay for the other drivers vehicle.

But I’m not sure how it works since it’s been a long time since any of us have been in an accident.
