Hear me out. There were tons of plays that had they not gone Baylor's way, the game wouldn't have been quite as close:
- At midfield on Baylor's first drive in the 3rd quarter, Robertson completes an insane pass on 4th and 8 while getting tackled to a receiver who just barely gets a toe in bounds. They go on to score a TD after converting another 4th down.
- Up 2 scores at the beginning of the 4th, BYU goes for the double pass and the refs fail to call PI. BYU then misses a long field goal that would've put them up 3 scores with under 13 minutes left. Baylor takes advantage of the short field and quickly scores a TD. That's a 10 to 14 point swing.
- After an excellent punt down to the 3 yard line, Baylor goes for it on 4th a short at the 12 yard line with 7 minutes left and converts. If BYU had stopped them, they would've likely scored and the game would be all but over.
- Baylor is forced to punt with just over 4 minutes left, but Retzlaff throws a tipped-ball INT on 3rd and 2 near midfield. Had BYU converted, they would've at least drained a couple more minutes off the clock. Had they not, they would've punted.
Shouldn't have been that close, IMO.
