Beggar Intervention Needed
Rewatched the second half vs. Baylor
Both the offense and defense played better than I thought when watching it live.

The D was pretty awesome throughout. Yeah, there were a couple of lapses but they were really good overall. Baylor had to make A LOT of plays on 3rd and 4th down to move the ball and score. If they make only 2 or 3 fewer plays, the game wouldn’t have been as close as it was. There were four or five plays that were made by a matter of inches by Baylor. Sometimes the other guys just make a play. I trust Jay Hill will find ways to get guys in position to be even more effective.

Offense had a few head-scratching play calls but most of the issues were execution-based. On both of Jake’s picks he needs to make a better choice or throw. The first needed to be thrown away or not thrown at all. The second he had two men open that likely make the first down. If he had thrown a second sooner or changed his angle he completes that and it’s a first. There were a few drops and a number of plays where Jake made the wrong decision so the blame is spread throughout the offense. Jake needs to make better decisions and see the short/middle routes better.

We do have a run game issue especially in obvious run downs. I’d love to see us go back to some of the multi-TE or two back sets we saw in ‘21 with QB under center. I think Jake would be great on bootlegs or rollouts with a run/pass option.
