My company is going through a reorg and higher ups decided my team could lose a position. It is an older gentleman that wants to work for a couple more years before he retires. He is getting a severance package that will pay him for about 8-9 months. He has no idea it is coming. He is also a remote worker so it will be a teams call. Anyways, this is my first time having this conversation since I became a manager a few years ago. Any advice or encouraging words are appreciated.
