With the new roster size limits after the House settlement, BYU and USU will each have to drop about 30 track athletes.
I’d guess a little more than half will come from distance (down to 17 for XC) and the rest will come from the remaining events.

Maybe more will need to be cut from the men’s teams with the need to have fewer men on Olympic sport rosters because of title 9.

Probably 50 of those 60 will be member kids (or they will displace member kids at other regional schools) who just won’t get to do college sports because they aren’t interested in other schools.

Pretty terrible side effect of someone else’s problem, if you ask me. I still can’t figure out why it’s a bad thing to let D1 schools choose to have a larger number of unscholarshipped athletes on the roster if they want.
