I remember the "good ole days" when this was all under the table.
I remember when Lequon Treadwell was given 100K to go to Ole Miss. I remember when Oklahoma purchased a house for Tommie Harris' parents in order to get an early commitment. Treadwell was committed to play for Oklahoma State having built a solid relationship with the WR coach. But a friend at Ole Miss secured a payment for him to go to Ole Miss. Treadwell said it was 100K delivered to him the day he signed. Stupidly he took a picture of himself and the cash. Oklahoma state fans were pissed about this. But nothing came of it. I remember seeing pictures of the Harris home before and after he signed with OU. There are hundreds of other stories.
I think it's better now that it's all out in the open (I actually don't think it's all out in the open yet). But I bet a Treadwell type player is worth more than a 100K now.
It's better but not sustainable.
