I think that payment to college athletes was probably a fair result, since it had become such a business. But I think that the resultant problems really demonstrates that sports as a business is simply not very compatible with it also being a collegiate activity.

One problem, though, is that splitting it off of the universities (and making a junior NFL) will really jeopardize the money currently going in. So what is the solution? NFL farm teams?
