Baylor can totally beat us. I hope they don't. Flying out tomorrow morning...
This game is a major challenge in that there is absolutely no way to avoid having to come down emotionally after the rapture that was this past Saturday night. Our players and coaches are humans, and this is a major human tendency. They'll be saying all the right things and may mean them, but a let down will be hard to avoid.

OTOH, Baylor just had its heart ripped out. That could demoralize them. Or they could be exceedingly salty this week and ready to hit BYU with their own buzz saw.

More importantly, while he's struggled of late and is viewed by some as a lame duck, Dave Aranda can coach defense. If our offense lets it's guard down and/or reverts back to some of its SMU tendencies, that could become very problematic for BYU. And while I do not consider myself one of his haters by any stretch, I will allow that Kalani (like most coaches) has a tendency towards getting caught in let downs vs. teams he should probably beat when those games come on the heels of a big victory.

I'm not prophesying doom and gloom here. I really want to believe that we are THAT team, that our defense is actually THAT good and can be reliably counted on to wreak havoc while playing assignment sound ball yet again. And that our offense continues to make strides, etc. But as others have observed, this has trap game written all over it. I hope BYU figures out how to put its best foot forward--again--following such an incredible performance.

I'm betting with my feet and my wallet that they will, although I expect a battle. I'll be at the tailgate and at the stadium this Saturday. See y'all there. Go Cougs!
