I am about 40 years old, uncle recently died of heart disease, his dad had heart issues too, but not biological to me. My mom was recently diagnosed with NSVT (non sustained ventricular tachycardia). Otherwise, my mom’s mom is the only biological family we have medical history with. Dad was adopted. Anyways, my wife worries I’ll drop dead of a heart attack one day. I’m not overweight. As a pilot, having official medical records of things can be problematic as the FAA can take my career away if they don’t like what’s on my medical record so I was looking for a way to get tested unofficially.
Looks like you can get screenings for carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, atrial fibrillation, and peripheral arterial disease for $159. Are these tests worth it? Will they tell me if there is an issue I should be worried about?
Thanks.
