but think of Jeffery R. Holland's request in 2012 that we do better. He shared some concerns about fan behavior and used them as an example of how each of us could be better members (and fans). For those who don't remember, he offered three lessons:

1) Never Check Your Religion at the Door
2) Be Compassionate but Be Loyal to the Commandments
3) Use Gospel Values to Benefit Communities and Countries

I can't help but see all three of those lessons applied this last week. Hearing opposing fans admit that they have religious differences with us, but that they can't deny that what they experienced was unlike anything, anywhere else, is unbelievable. BYU has always been a special place, but the way the fans and the university treat visitors is above and beyond anything it was in previous decades. Makes me prouder to be a cougar than any win ever has.

Elder Holland closed with this:

"Latter-day Saints are called upon to be the leaven in the loaf, the salt that never loses its savor, the light set upon a hill never to be hidden under a bushel. So start presenting! If we do right and talk right and reach out generously with our words and our deeds, then, when the Savior cuts short His work in righteousness, says time is no more in this last dispensation, and comes in His glory, He will find us doing our best, trying to live the gospel, trying to improve our lives and our Church and our society the best way we can."

Way to go guys - you started presenting and we are seeing the results. Proud to be a cougar.
