Jay Hill = still under estimated
It seems like each coach of a BYU opponent this year (especially SMU and KSU) has uttered some version of confused coach-speak after a question similar to:”What were they doing that made it hard on your offense?”

If you go back and listen you hear them trying to downplay it by mentioning one or two elements of what the _think_ BYU did, but it is clear that at that immediate postgame moment they didn’t really have a good picture of what just happened.

Mad respect to Jay Hill. He has them outsmarted.

Avery Johnson’s answer to “What was your biggest struggle?”

“I dunno, making bad reads I guess”

There’s the secret. He made the reads Hill wanted him to read. The defense is so cleverly trained that Johnson could not distinguish between what was safe and what was dangerous.

I think we haven’t even begun to see the full potential for this squad yet.

( BTW, kudos to him for crediting the defense. Standup guy. Wish the best for him and KSU going forward. They kept it classy. )
