He told the team and media this week that he saw a key to this game was that because KState excelled at ball control and running, that BYU couldn’t settle for FGs. They had to score in the red/blue zone with TDs.
Well, kudos to him. It didn’t pan out exactly that way, but obviously one of the keys ended up similar, holding KState to FGs instead of TDs.
Then BYU did push for TD until a penalty made them take a FG. That at least signaled to the team to stick with the game plan, but don’t so stupid stuff when you have the chance to score.
Obviously the turnovers then changed the game.
