I remember last year during the early part of basketball season where there was a lot of frustrations. I think his name was Dallin Hall. I think most of you know him. Anyhow, Cougarboard was talking about how we should bench him. We were saying that he was having too many TO and should be benched. A lot of this board acted like we hated this guy. I know that is not true, but an outsider would definitely think that. I made a post around that time that I loved the way this dude played and his heart. I wanted him to lead us into the Big 12. I think it was ludicrous that we were wasting our time with the negativity about him. He ended up having a great season and the rest is history.
This really parallels the feelings I have towards Jake. Other coaches and announcers talk about how BYU has a very good QB. Yes, he makes some mistakes and gets lackadaisical with the ball sometimes. Most QB's out there do the same thing. I want an aggressive qb. Jake is a unique player for BYU. He is a non-member, who epitomizes the type of player we want to have at BYU and into the future. He frequently attends other sporting events and is a BYU guy. All this negativity has to be wearing on him. He hears it unfortunately. Why do we do it? I get frustrated sometimes too and want perfection. Life is not that way people. I Love this kid. He won the job for a reason. Let's all be better and let the frustrations turn into supports. I love how this kid has fought his way to play division 1 football and he has made it. He always has a chip on his shoulder. This kid is a fighter, and he is the one I want leading this team into the Big 12.
