Overall, I will take the win but it was ugly. I don't see SMU being competitive in the ACC anytime soon. Stadium was pretty dumpy but easy to get in and out. Surprised by the attendance of SMU fans. Looked weak but my nephew sitting with me, who went to SMU, said it was the largest crowd he had ever seen in his time. Take away the large BYU contingent and that place woulda looked empty. We were next to the student section who started up a "F the Mormons" chant right at the start and thought we were in for a long night of that but they actually were mostly quiet the rest of the night. Thought they might get riled up at half when the large group of missionaries went on the field to sing but the place was mostly quiet.

Didn't understand ARod's play calling all night. After the one TD drive it felt like he was afraid to try anything beyond 5 yards. Incredibly frustrating offensive night. I'd rather take some long shots with Chase, JoJo and Lassiter than all that little stuff around the line of scrimmage all night. Even if he threw a pick, I'd still rather see that on a deep ball than the crap he was throwing into traffic around the line. Jake looked lost. Probably my biggest concern, other than making boneheaded TOs, is that he wasn't seeing the field well. Saw several times where he had a wide open receiver and never saw it and threw into coverage. Even then, his accuracy was garbage. Marion was 3 yards beyond the defenders on that pass late in the game, shoulda been a TD. The throw was there but he throws that inside and Marion cruises to the endzone.

Can't recall a game where officiating, calls and reviews almost all went in our favor. That was refreshing.

Saving the best for last - our D! Man they played a game. Funny how they just manhandled the Ponies when #2 when was in at QB. He was so pissed with this protection. After last series he was in for, he left the field just screaming at his line. Collins INT was awesome. Still can't believe we got that fumble right after Jake's TO on the goal line. I think we likely lose if they stick it in for a TD right there. So much better than the Tuiaki days. Love this D.

Just a weird game but so glad we won. Woulda been a much longer 3-hour drive home if we hadn't won after the way our O played. Onto Laramie!
