BYU is finally leveraging its advantages and may be on the cusp of realizing its
potential as a basketball program. It made no sense that BYU would finish 5th in the WCC while averaging the highest attendance in the west, not to mention having over half a million alumni, many of whom are wealthy and passionate about BYU athletics.

BYU is finally on a level playing field with current NIL and transfer rules. As everyone is basically a one year player now, the “downsides” of the honor code are no longer a deal breaker. The BOT doesn’t seem to be as big an impedance as they have been in the past. Being in the Big 12 also helps.

I’m excited to see what BYU can do in basketball. Hopefully, football will follow suit. BYU seems to perpetually underachieve in basketball/football/baseball relative to its fan support (for lots of reasons, money, conference affiliation, honor code, BOT restrictions, etc.). It seems that BYU may be well suited to be successful in this new era of college athletics.
