Report: Washington Transfer Dominique Diomande Signs with BYU

IG: iam__dominique_

BYU has added their first addition of the offseason as Washington transfer Dominique Diomande has committed to BYU, sources tell me. Pete Nakos of On3 was first on the news.

A native of Ivory Coast and France, Diomande signed with the Huskies mid-year and joined the team in January and redshirted. A 6-foot-8 forward, Diomande comes to BYU with NBA upside and a skillset ready to contribute now. Diomande has been projected to be a top-50 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com and was named one of 11 “Under the Radar Freshmen with NBA Potential” by NBADraftRoom.com.

Diomande is not a project and is expected to contribute at BYU right away. One European industry source described Diomande as “a really athletic wing with good size; has handles and can shoot.”

Prior to Washington, Diomande played in 26 games during the 2023-24 season for ADA Blois of the France-ProA U21 league, averaging 16.0 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and shooting 51.9% from the field. Diomande projects as a 3-and-D wing who can play either the three of four spots for BYU.

Diomande may not start, but I fully expect him to be part of the rotation. He will turn 20 in June and has multiple years of professional ball in Europe. He is not as experienced as Mawot Mag, but he will in some ways fill that defensive void and brings several intriguing tools on offensively with his athleticism, ability to put the ball on the floor, and score.

This pickup may not make huge waves nationally since people haven’t seen Diomande perform in college, but Diomande should have a big impact for BYU not only this upcoming year put potentially for multiple seasons. You can watch highlights of Diomande below.
