is what my head is saying. My heart, I can't quite figure that out
yet.

Anae admitted that the offense is struggling lately.

Against TCU it will only get worse in two days.

Any QB with good feet and a noodle for an arm can gain yards on
BYU. Just throw that 8 yard spot pass to the wide receiver 4-5
times, then run student body right or left and you are on your way
to the endzone.

"Carver refused to divulge how the three networks decide which
games to air but did say the mtn. had the third pick of the
three."

If this statement is true, why in the world did CBS College Sports
or Versus not pick up the Utah-BYU game before the season started.
They had to know beforehand based on expectations that both teams
were going to be good. Even if they were only going off of
pre-season expectations of only BYU being a BCS buster, wouldn't
you want to broadcast THE rivalry game in the conference that could
potentially send BYU to the BCS game?!?!?! What conference games
did they decide to broadcast instead I might ask?? That statement
is completely unbelievable. I bet if CBS College Sports had the
rights, it would be moved to the broadcast network instead if both
teams were undefeated and BYU potentially could go to the title
game with a win.

Bronco is Staying Put, and Here is Why:

I've heard some chatter that Bronco is going to leave Happy Valley
if he isn't paid fair market value. Like many of you, I was a
little surprised to learn that Bronco was "disappointed" with his
first contract (as a matter of principle, I'm pretty irritated
whenever someone is disappointed making 450k, but I'll give him the
benefit of the doubt since it was under fair market value), but I
really don't see Bronco coaching elsewhere next season, and here is
why:

1. Bronco is a smart guy. He knows much of his rhetoric and
motivational techniques are specific to BYU (or perhaps other
conservative Christian schools). He effectively blends the
motivational and the spiritual in such a way that RM Mormon kids
soak it up. For example, "Quest for Perfection" is essentially a
quasi-spiritual message. There's no doubt that there are coaches in
the non-BYU realm who have been successful while preaching a
spiritual message (Tony Dungy's winning "the Lord's way" after the
Colts' SB win comes to mind), but I think Bronco is smart enough to
know that he loses a lot of his effectiveness if his players aren't
religious.

2. If push comes to shove, Bronco will get a raise. Boosters aren't
going to sit idly by and let Mendenhall jet for Seattle over a
couple hundred thousand dollars.

3. He preaches of being "Fully Invested." Do you think he can be
fully invested in BYU while lapping his chops for a superior payday
elsewhere (I mean, he is not--thank the good Lord above--Urban
Meyer).

4. He speaks of tradition and honor. What sort of tradition has he
built? None...yet. A few winning seasons does not make a tradition.
I think his focus on past legacy's underscores his desires to
create a new one. Yes, dude has been phenomenal at getting us back
on track, but as of yet he has left no permanent legacy.

5. Finally, next year he will have a Sr. 3-year starting QB, and
Austin Collie (among others). I don't think he'll up and walk
out.

If he does, I will make West Virginia's response to Rich
Rodriguez's departure look tame in cmoparison.

Fui

Fui should get the ball more. He has explosive speed that he seems
to have improved since 2006. He is a beast of a fullback, one of
the best we've had, and his cutback speed could cause problems in
teams preparing for the two different types of backs. He has come
close to breaking it open several times this season. I would like
to see them mix it up a little more with Fui and Unga.

I honestly think TCU has no idea of how many BYU

fans will be descending on the game tomorrow night. I'm keeping my
estimates conservative at 15K, but I won't be surprised if it's
much, much more.

We, like many others, bought our tickets back in August...way
before this game appeared as big as it is now. I suspect that BYU
fans in Texas and surrounding areas had this game purchased long
ago.

If we win, I think that one of the BIG stories of the game will be
the overwhelming number of BYU fans there. (If we lose, it will
just be an interesting side note)

Another thing to look forward to: The BYU fans that have attended
prior TCU football and basketball games have been very vocal. I was
at the Stanford game a few years ago where we had 10K fans and
their noise/enthusiasm didn't come close to the fans at the 2006
TCU game. I'm looking forward to making as much or more noise than
the TCU fans tomorrow.

Can't wait!!

For those that are a little nervous about TCU.

How would you feel if TCU had beat us the last two years? What if
the only win we had in the last 3 years against these guys was a
questionable fumble in OT?
Or if we had only scored 13 points last week. And none in the last
3 quarters. Nervous?
What if TCU had not lost a conference game in something like 2+
years. Or had 10 game winning steaks in '06 and '07. Now that would
be tough.

What if TCU was ranked #9 in the Nation and had a coach who didn't
overlook anyone? Or they were undefeated? What if their QB was
nails, and they had a slew of top flight TE's. Or two Tongans in
the back field that tried to mow smaller Defenders over? Or a blue
chip Wideout that was the MW O-player of the week, and was one of
the top 5 receivers in the country?
What if they had one of the Top D-lines in the conference and one
DE would hold the MWC record for sacks?
Or if we had to watch over and over their SR linebacker 'blindside'
our QB causing a fumble, from 2 years ago?

What if 4 of TCU's O-linemen were Sr's and had beat our team the
last two years. Man would we have cause to be edgy.

And to top things off what if we had this game on a short week to
prepare? I'm just like you, very nervous indeed.
