'Based upon conversations from officials from a school lobbying to get in (but noted, not a BYU person) , he was told from a school official, the BIG 12 has told them the criteria they are looking at are:

1- Geography
2-Size of athletic budget
3- Brand
4-Attendance
5- TV Market - actual eyes on TV from football fans, not just huge market full of people who don't actually care about football.

Conspicuously absent is academics.

On the Dennis Dodd "religious school block issue" - he said this issue has not been communicated to him. Thought political issues at BYU may have been a bigger deal against BYU in 2011 than today- partially citing new leadership at BYU and Texas in particular. Said that social issues may be "A" factor, but not "The" factor- were it not so, BYU would be in already. But, Thinks social factors are less of a deal to Big 12 than certainly in the PAC12. Religion not believed to be a "glaring red flag" - Said he can't imagine not adding somebody because of a women's softball tournament schedules."

There is not a collective academic identity to BIG12, so religion is not so much of a glaring flag.
