Interesting stat observation. The last time we beat Utah (2009), Max Hall had...
... 8 regular season games where he threw for 300+ passing yards and BYU finished the season 11-2.

Since then, BYU hasn't had it's named, clear-cut, starting QB going into the season--have more than three 300+ passing yard games in the regular season.

They have had two backup QBs surpass the mark, but not the starter-going-into-the-season, noted below:

- Christian Stewart in 2014 had 4 regular season games + the bowl game where he topped the mark. BYU finished 8-5 after a double OT loss to Memphis in the Miami Beach Bowl. It's also of note, we didn't play Utah in 2014 (which is still one of the dumbest scheduling faux pas in college football history, but besides the point).

- Tanner Mangum in 2015, took over in Nebraska game as we all know. He has also had 4 games + the bowl game where he topped the mark. BYU finished 9-4 after a 7-point loss to Utah--a game that wasn't "scheduled" but rather both teams fell into.

From 2015 forward, BYU hasn't had a single QB, starter or otherwise, throw for multiple 300+ yard games in a season/or bowl. In fact, since 2015 we've only had TWO games total where our QB has thrown for 300+. Taysom throwing for 320 against Southern Utah in 2016 and then last season, when Wilson was perfect and threw for 317 against Western Michigan in our bowl game.

So since 2009...

... we haven't had a named starter going into the season have three or more 300+ yard passing games.
... we haven't beaten Utah.

If we beat Utah, does that mean that Wilson will have a wealth of 300+ passing yard games and we'll win 11 games? Or if we lose to Utah, does that mean Wilson won't have more than three or that we'll have a backup play? Or something else entirely?

Thoughts?
